Linebreaks are an important part of the letter contact block, and make
it easier to read.
Bold text works for short pieces of info like email addresses or phone
numbers, but is too heavy for the letter contact blocks because they
tend to be longer.
Different parts of government get billed slightly differently, and
there’s differences in how much money we’re allowed to give them.
Think these numbers are right, but should be double checked.
So that we can default services to their appropriate text allowance, we
need to find out what sector they're in. So let's start collecting that
from teams as they create new services.
I think Central/Local/NHS are the right options, but these can be easily
changed if not.
The GDS Way™[1] recommends using Flake8 to lint Python projects.
This commit takes the Flake8 config from Digital Marketplace API[2] and
removes the bits we don’t need.
It changes the `max_complexity` setting to 14, which is the most complex
code we have in this repo currently (we shouldn’t be writing code _more_
complex than what we already have).
This commit also fixes the errors found by Flake8, which includes 6(!)
tests which were never getting run because they had the same names as
existing tests.

Inbound text messages can run over multiple lines. This makes the page
harder to scan. Your phone, and the outbound messages page, only show
the first line of the text message, and truncate the rest with an
ellipsis.
This commit does the same for inbound text messages.
It also stops the timestamp for the inbound messages being squashed and
wrapping over multiple lines, which looks messy.
We couldn’t do this before, because it would have stopped people from
being able to copy/paste the full message content from this page.
In user research, we’ve seen users copy/pasting the contents of the
inbound SMS page into a spreadsheet, in order to keep a record of the
messages they receive. They even went as far as to write a macro which
fixed the errors caused by copying and pasting.
It would be much easier if we just gave them the data already in a
spreadsheet format. Which is what this commit does.
One caveat is that, because spreadsheets can contain executable code (ie
formulas), and because we’re populating the spreadsheet with
user-submitted data (albeit via SMS) we need to be careful about
injection attacks.

The mitigation is to not allow characters which initialise a formula
at the start of the cell.
GOV.UK Template hanged the colour of text in focused links in
79466a489c
It was done with greater specificity than before. This means that the
way we were previously overriding the focus colour (for links with a
dark background) no longer works.
This commit makes our override more specific, so that it works again.
If you’ve picked an email reply to address, it’s good UI design to have
your choice played back to you, so you can be confident it’s worked.
This commit does that by making it part of the email preview.

Entering, or reading back sequences of digits is easier when they’re a
bit more spaced out.
This is because we read words as shapes, but read numbers
digit-by-digit.
So this commit adjusts the tracking of the type to put a bit more space
in for textboxes that are going to accept digits.

This has been useful.
This commit adds tracking of other form validation errors, so we can
pick up if there’s a form field that’s causing people particular
trouble.
Also had to rewrite a very old test to look for page content in a
smarter way.
Notify is now available, as a pilot, to local government and the NHS. So
telling people that it’s only for government departments and agencies is
- wrong
- might stop them from signing up
The word ‘organisation’ matches what’s used on the list of services, and
on the hint text on the email field on the sign up page.
If you’re using inbound SMS then I reckon it’s useful to be able to
naviagate from one message to the context in which that message sits
(ie the conversation).
This commit adds that link.
This is maybe a stopgap until we do something more like chat, where you
can reply on the same screen where you see the conversation, but maybe
it turns out we don’t want to do that – lets see how this works.
Currently the only way of ‘replying’ to an inbound message is by
copy/pasting the phone number from the inbound page into the send one
off page. Rather than making people copy/paste, this commit puts the
phone number in the session, if the user is going through the new reply
flow.
If your service is receiving inbound messages, you might want to reply
to them. Without an API integration, the only way to do this is by doing
the send one off flow. But currently there is no direct link from the
page which shows the inbound messages.
So this commit:
- adds a link to a new page…
- …which shows the available (ie only text message) templates with which
you can reply
